I take up my position
on the Noosa River
this sunny, warm winter's afternoon
and applying Mohammed's
mountain moving theory in reverse,
I wait
for the passing parade
to come my way...
so that she can
snap the moment
for posterity
and a doting
father creeps up
on his son
to squeals of glee...
there are skateboarders
zipping along
young cyclists falling down
to a soft grassy landing
and kids on scooters
weaving their way with mum
down the pathway
an elderly man
sits silhouetted
in the glare.
I noticed before that
he had a walking stick
which I now
enviously covet...
and the ducks
bob and bounce
unperturbed
in the wakes
of passing boats
Oh, yes indeed. I often say that Mohammed was a very cool dude - I suscribe to his theory of Mountain Actvity. Good Job! xx♥
ReplyDeletehey delwyn - very cool take on the reverse mohammed mountain moving idea!!!! let it come to you. of course! and look at all that you saw. rich moments and experiences that span the lives of people - from first standing up to using a walking stick. and all the while the river flows past. have a peaceful day. steven
ReplyDeleteDelwyn it is never just your photographs that touch me alone, it is also your words.
ReplyDeleteLove Renee xoxo
hmm..winter looks lots more appealing where you are than it is where i am. :-) i've been trying to get brave and snap pics of other people and so far have managed only one naked guy and a fat family....
ReplyDeleteGreat theory of yours & it certainly worked! The G-man and I were talking about you, your injury, your photos & your lovely view from your home. The walkway along the Noosa River is lovely. The weather looks perfect... seems you are having a nice winter.
ReplyDeleteGreeting from Texas...
Delwyn...as always you capture life's moments well...
ReplyDeletePlease visit my blog for something.
I don't know why this came to mind when reading your post, but it did:
ReplyDelete“How does your ship travel faster than light?”
“Actually the ship is stationary the whole time, the ship’s engines move the Universe around the ship”
What a perfect, peaceful day you shared. There's a lesson here for all of us to slow down, stop and look around. Thank you, Delwyn. Blessings!!
ReplyDeleteHello, dear Delwyn.
ReplyDeleteEven sitting on a bench and watching the world go by, you see so much and describe it so poignantly!
Please stop by my blog for a very special award when you have a chance.
Hugs,
xoxox

Hello Delwyn, I have popped over to visit as Wanda speaks highly of your blog. I can see why and I have really enjoyed my walk with you today. You do have a special gift my friend with your camera, thank you for sharing.....:-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteHello, Delwyn. Thank you for the "walk" in park. Good to see that Hubby is making sure that you are getting out! It is nice to watch people at play. It relaxes you--just like your posts. The lazy days of summer here makes everyone slow down and simply enjoy the company of others. Sitting on the porch with a cool drink, soft breeze, and slow conversation. Nice.
ReplyDeleteHello Cyndy
ReplyDeletenow i am intrigued - where did hubby come into the story...
I was just thinking how nice it is not to have to go anywhere today...to take the day as it unfolds...who knows where it may lead...
Happy days
Hello Bernie
ReplyDeleteand welcome to my part of Australia, it is nice to have you here.
Thank you for your generous comments, and I will drop in for coffee later in the day...
Happy days
Hi Angela
ReplyDeleteThank you for those kind words - they really keep me going...Ohhh more surprises....
Happy days
Dear Delwyn,
ReplyDeleteIn regards to hubby, I thought for sure I read that you went together! I am intrigued, too, as I reread your post and see absolutely no reference! Maybe I was just thinking that he was encouraging you to get outside since my husband was the doing that to me today. Projection? : )
Probably more likely just the end of a very long, but glorious, weekend. Monday morning is going to come way too soon...
Hi Marion...
ReplyDeleteyes do slow down , you don't need a fracture to make you do that!
Even dragonflies stop sometimes...
Happy days
Hi Dan
ReplyDeleteI like that very much...and it has many levels...there is something very tao-ish about those words...
Happy days
Hello Wanda
ReplyDeletethank you, see you soon...
Happy days
Hello Lizzy
ReplyDeleteThere is always so much happening out there. Even from my nest I am noticing the daily changes I wasn't aware of before...the habits of the ducks and cormorants...
My ears weren't burning...
Our winters are usually very easy and mellow...warm days and sitting in the sun for a coffee is just perfect...
Happy days
Hello Julie - old friend...
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing was I often pretended to be snapping other things...we have laws here banning the snapping of people on the beaches and also snapping children so people are very aware of that...
Easier to do with the dogs...the mother didn't know I was aiming at her...she was preoccupied...the man with the 2 dogs did and gave me a big smile...
Happy days
Hello Renee
ReplyDeletethank you my dear...I love seeing which words will come to mind when I have the photo on the draft...
Happy days
Hi Steven
ReplyDeletewell I have learned that husband will come with cups of tea, the newspaper, and meals, and do the grocery shopping too...so thought I should try the theory on the general population...
yes the subjects ranged from baby to the aged - and me somewhere in between - the silent observer... the silent snapper perhaps... pretending to snap at the scenery...
Happy days
Hello there Natalie
ReplyDeleteYes, and it worked very well in reverse - but generally in life - you go and get it girl....
Happy days
This is what I call precious moment, just a fun stroll with family, dog.....enjoying the mother nature by the sunset....
ReplyDeleteI love the last photo very much, beautifully captured:)
Hi Yoon see
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you came and kept me company on the park bench...
Happy Days
Hello Delwyn,
ReplyDeleteYour camera is still able to take walks, even if your ankle isn't cooperating. The Noosa River is lovely - I really like the backlit picture of the sailboat and man. Speedy healing to you.
You're driving! Congratulations! I loved your shots of all those people, from young to old, in action and in repose, because you were so connected. No posing, just life and thoughts and feelings. A wonderful story today, Delwyn!
ReplyDeleteHi Barb
ReplyDeletethanks for visiting...and your nice omments
yes I will keep snapping relentlessly
Happy days
Margaret
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking of you and 2 messages popped through. Did you get my email?

ReplyDeleteHello Tammie

I'm glad you experienced the river that way as I was actually stationery...
Happy days
Isn't it wonderful to take a backsest, as it were & to watch the world go by, even if your not being able to get about is a nuiscance it still can hae benefits. its all about how one views a situation. my oft repeated words, "everything happens for a reason" x x
ReplyDeleteHi there Ruthie
ReplyDeleteYes I am enjoying doing things I normally wouldn't and exploring some new areas too. And I also try to adapt to the situations in a creative way...
Happy days
You are welcome Delwyn:)
