Slip sliding...
and the sun
is just beginning to slide up
from behind the Noosa Hill
and touch the river
with a pink glow
Later
as the afternoon closes
I sense it will soon be time
for the sun to begin slipping
and the more the suns slips,
the higher the shadow line
slides its way
up the face of the trees
creeping towards
the Brahminy Kite
out on a limb
the Brahminy Kite
out on a limb
I'm trying to decide which part of the day is most beautiful...slip sliding away...slip stream. -Jayne
ReplyDeleteOh Delwyn...You slipped in with a beautiful shot of a sunrise and slid away with an equally beautiful shot of the moon!
ReplyDeleteYou spoke of our synchronicity in a comment...well 2 other blogger friends (Jientje & Eileen) have "Holy Cow" in their titles today...synchronicity is alive and well!
Smiles across the miles!
Wanda
wow! What a beautiful day! some people got to see an eclipse over here...I was indoors though! Thank you for this bit of nature. Your blog is always so refreshing!
ReplyDeleteHello Jayne and welcome to SE Queensland, and a little spot of paradise...
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to meet you. Pray tell, where did you slip in from?
Happy days
Hello Wanda
ReplyDeleteIsn't that always intriguing how we often write on similar topics or use similar vocabulary.
Happy days
Hello there little Tulsa,
ReplyDeleteOh No. Did you miss it? Our news coverage showed Japanese kids watching through their special glasses.
My daughter is coming home for 10 days soon which will be nice...How is the heat now? I don't think I am going to get to Japan this year, which makes me rather melancholy...but next year I will for sure. P & M are getting an apartment in Tokyo so it will be good to have a base there. And I will definitely be walking more in Kyoto- maybe I'll even get to Kobe...
Happy days
hi delwyn, with our summer holidays slip sliding away right before my hands and eyes, your choice of paul simon's song was very reminding with its reminder that we can accept life just passing by, that we should enjoy and celebrate it for the gift that it is. a beautiful post. the moon over the river. wow!! have a lovely day. steven
ReplyDeleteWow! Such gorgeous natural beauty! You are so lucky to have this scenery as a backdrop to your life. Your photos and words are very evocative - I feel like I'm watching with you.
ReplyDeleteGood day, Delwyn, even if it is slipping away!
ReplyDeleteThe ever optimistic, Pollyana persona in me does think that if the days are slipping, then so are the weeks, and soon you will be without that nasty moonboot! That is a good thing!
With the heat and humidity on the rise here, the days seem to lag. Quite often can't wait for the cooler evening air and sometimes the promise of an electrifying thunderstorm to quell the summer's sultriness...
very, very serene and beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteWow, again, Delwyn! The moon shot snuck up on me...I totally wasn't expecting it and it made me gasp it is so beautiful. You and that camera are a pair to be reckoned with, for sure!!! Hugs and Blessings!!!
ReplyDeleteNice post. Summer is slip sliding away, just as Steven noted.
ReplyDeleteSometimes with a slight but profound and mildly unnerving shift of consciousness, I feel what's actually happening at dawn, dusk, or whatever: the earth I'm standing on is rolling eastward, like a big ball, revealing new vistas of the objects in space around us.
You must be a very strong-minded person; If I had such scenery always available (and the weather to enjoy it!), I would never do any work. I might become a Buddhist and sit and muse and meditate upon the subject of beauty all day long.
ReplyDeleteOh, that is incredible, Delwyn! From tea-rose-and-butter sunrise to a full moon with traces of a pink-and-blue sunset and a lone gull in the sky! The most magnificient day!
ReplyDeleteThe water looks like glass in each of your pics! I already had "Moon River" in my head today. How apropos!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you know I love this post because of my love for reflections. But I love rivers, too. They are my sisters.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this beautiful poem of images and words.
Hi Reya
ReplyDeleteAs you can imagine I have had a lot of time over the last month to watch the river and appreciate her moods.
Every time I come home and enter my house I take a look through to the river and never fail to gasp a deep breath at I absorb its beauty.
Happy days
Hi Willow
ReplyDeleteI have never thought of the song and connected with the river..but I always will now thank you...
Happy days
Hello Margaret
ReplyDeleteIt is magnificent. The bird is a late cormorant coming in to roost in the special cormorant tree.
Happy days
Hi Friko
ReplyDeletewell I think I marry the two. I can sit at the computer, or in my nest reading, or cook and clean all with the view in front of me. My home is mainly glass so from almost every where you can see the river. So as I carry out my activities I am mindful of nature and the wonders of my world.
AND GRATEFUL, oh so thankful...
Happy days
Hi Dan
ReplyDeleteIs it still hot? School returns at the beginning of Sept? so one more month of summer yet?
Yes its odd to think of it that way. We are so used to saying that the sun rides across the sky...no wonder the ancients believed the earth was the centre of the universe.
Happy days
Hi there Marion
ReplyDeleteThat moon has a habit of sneaking up...
thanks for your friendship and support...
Happy days
Hello Priya
ReplyDeleteI am most fortunate to live on this serene and calming river.
I told Beloved yesterday that I want my ashes to be scattered over the river when I go... That's a bit of a morbid thought in one way but what I was feeling was a deep connection to the river.
Happy days
Well done Cyndy - you are so right...4 whole weeks have gone now and only 6 sleeps to go...
ReplyDeleteI have been having some physio and taking a few tentative steps in the safety of my home...I have a long way to go to regain full mobility but to have the boot off will be wonderful. I will then wear an ankle brace for more rugged terrains, and to maintain my confidence so so that I adopt the correct stride again. I am still hobbling a little...
thanks for your concern and optimism...
Happy days
Hello Delwyn, so tranquil. All lovely, great moon shot with the bird flying home.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the Gold Coast!!
Hi Alaine
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a lovely break - a bit of a chilly wind but nice in the sun...
Happy days
