Maude and Harold

*

Maude and Harold

seem to think
that they have their own private spa
and they can visit
at their leisure

They take no notice of me
when I go onto the verandah
to do my chores

I told Maude today
how they got their names

and she thought
it was a good joke...

each day now
Maude and Harold
come to gargle

to do a spot of leaning

and enjoy
the fresh spa waters

Harold!
I've told you before
it's for drinking only...

it's not a footbath

You are incorrigible...

and a show off

It's not the spot
to do your yoga,

Harold...

What a sweet couple. All these creatures that come to visit you, up close and personal, must sense that they will be safe, welcome and appreciated chez vous.

Just noticed the smile has not left my face since viewing your pics and commentary. Nice way to start the day.

P.S. I am disappointed that I never received the comment you speak of on my blog???? It's so often the good ones that get away!

  4. Hi Bonnie

Mainly I think it has to do with the demise of the dog...all of the animal visitors have been scared off in the past...

Tomorrow if I find time I will attempt to redo my analysis of your painting... my daughter is arriving from Japan so it will be busy as the day goes on...

    Nice to see you Bonnie

  6. Hello Delwyn,

Maude and Harold must think it's their own special "getaway" spot on the river. Loved your canopy of laundry...like party streamers for them possibly!

    Smiles to you,
    Wanda

  7. Hi Wanda

They are very protective of their spa 'getaway'...no other ducks dare put a webbed foot on the deck...if they come near they get a very stern telling off...

Maybe Maude reads the laundry as the welcoming banner...

    Happy days Wanda

  9. Hi Steven,

the ducklings seemed to be around at the end of summer...maybe Harold and Maude are coming over here to get away from the kids...

Thanks Steven, there is atyphoon way up there hovering on the edge of China so I hope she didn't get delayed and has left Tokyo OK - right about now she should be at cruising altitude...

  12. Hmmm, a little magret de canard french style, or crispy duck chinese style, might be very tasty with that sweet potato soup ?!? No, no, bad Owen, I didn't just say that ! Very bad, those ducks are too cute and friendly to possibly think about having them for dinner...
    :-)

  15. My Mother in law fed the birds and the ducks at her waterfront home for years and boy did they tell all their friends. Some days her yard and patio were thick with feathered friends.
She really misses it where she lives now.
So I guess what I am saying is: If you give a mouse a cookie he will want a glass of milk.

  16. Harold and Maude are so sweet. I wondered if they were named after the characters in the movie. How fun.

  24. Hi Marion

  26. Hi Lori E

well these do are adamant that their spa not be shared by the rest of the gang and very loudly berate any other potential clients....

I plan to keep them on that side og the deck...and come summer they will have to stop using the pool...I haven't quite worked out how we will achieve that yet...

    perhaps another dog...

  31. Good morning Lynne

actually it's now 1.30pm, I had a number of chores to undertake this am and am responding very late for me...

I'm a bit of a silly goose so it fits well with the ducks - birds of a feather and all that...bird brained too maybe...

    thanks for coming by
