Maude and Harold
seem to think
that they have their own private spa
and they can visit
at their leisure
They take no notice of me
when I go onto the verandah
to do my chores
I told Maude today
how they got their names
and she thought
it was a good joke...
each day now
Maude and Harold
come to gargle
to do a spot of leaning
and enjoy
the fresh spa waters
Harold!
I've told you before
it's for drinking only...
it's not a footbath
You are incorrigible...
and a show off
It's not the spot
to do your yoga,
Harold...

really a fantastic blog, especially your wonderful snaps.
ReplyDeleteDelwyn:
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet couple. All these creatures that come to visit you, up close and personal, must sense that they will be safe, welcome and appreciated chez vous.
Just noticed the smile has not left my face since viewing your pics and commentary. Nice way to start the day.
P.S. I am disappointed that I never received the comment you speak of on my blog???? It's so often the good ones that get away!
Hello shail2chouhan
ReplyDeletewelcome to Australia and thank you for your kind comments. I hope to see you again soon. I will come by and visit you soon...
Happy days
Hi Bonnie
ReplyDeleteMainly I think it has to do with the demise of the dog...all of the animal visitors have been scared off in the past...
Tomorrow if I find time I will attempt to redo my analysis of your painting... my daughter is arriving from Japan so it will be busy as the day goes on...
Nice to see you Bonnie
Happy days
Very cute!
ReplyDeleteHello there Izzy
ReplyDeletehow nice to see you again...we haven't caught up in a while...
Yes Maude and Harold are entertaining company...
Happy days
Hello Delwyn,
ReplyDeleteMaude and Harold must think it's their own special "getaway" spot on the river. Loved your canopy of laundry...like party streamers for them possibly!
Smiles to you,
Wanda
Hi Wanda
ReplyDeleteThey are very protective of their spa 'getaway'...no other ducks dare put a webbed foot on the deck...if they come near they get a very stern telling off...
Maybe Maude reads the laundry as the welcoming banner...
Happy days Wanda
hello delwyn, it's lovely that they feel so welcome in your little part of paradise. i wonder if eventually they'll settle down and have little harold and maudes?! have a lovely day by the river and enjoy your daughter's arrival. you must be excited! steven
ReplyDeleteHi Steven,
ReplyDeletethe ducklings seemed to be around at the end of summer...maybe Harold and Maude are coming over here to get away from the kids...
Thanks Steven, there is atyphoon way up there hovering on the edge of China so I hope she didn't get delayed and has left Tokyo OK - right about now she should be at cruising altitude...
Happy days
Duck yoga, now THAT's my sport. Especially if carried out at a riverside spa.
ReplyDeleteAdorable.
Lola xx
LOL
ReplyDeleteI can't stop laughing! Harold is outrageous! Why on earth is he doing that...there...!?
I love these two...thank you for the drama!
Oh, and please give Poppy my best when she gets home!
Hmmm, a little magret de canard french style, or crispy duck chinese style, might be very tasty with that sweet potato soup ?!? No, no, bad Owen, I didn't just say that ! Very bad, those ducks are too cute and friendly to possibly think about having them for dinner...
ReplyDelete:-)
Lovely photos, Delwyn! That is one of my top five favorite movies of all time. It's amazing and I love the Cat Stevens soundtrack. Great post! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! and such perfect names.
ReplyDeleteSunny :)
My Mother in law fed the birds and the ducks at her waterfront home for years and boy did they tell all their friends. Some days her yard and patio were thick with feathered friends.
ReplyDeleteShe really misses it where she lives now.
So I guess what I am saying is: If you give a mouse a cookie he will want a glass of milk.
Harold and Maude are so sweet. I wondered if they were named after the characters in the movie. How fun.
ReplyDeleteBoys!
ReplyDeleteDelwyn, I'm glad to see you finally saw the movie...I hoped you liked it, its one of my favourites.
ReplyDeleteBefore I paged down far enough, I was thinking, "Just like the movie!"
ReplyDeleteThey are so sweet. I have a thing for birds!
I LOVE those ducks...but I think your commentary has a lot to do with it. So enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteThe ducks don't look even half as scary as their namesakes!
ReplyDeleteHi Lola
ReplyDeleteThank you again for your sweet comments yesterday...
and these two are very adept at the tree pose...even if in the drinking water...
Happy days Lola
Hi Tulsa
ReplyDeleteHarold has no manners!
I'm glad you get a kick out of the duck antics...

Owen... you too are incorrigible...
ReplyDeleteI think these would be tough old specimen...
It's nice to see you again...
Happy days
Hi Marion
ReplyDeleteWell we sat down with much anticipation to watch the movie and the jolly thing would not load...don't you hate that... so I haven't got to see it yet as they only had the one copy at my Video store...
Happy days
Hello Sunny
ReplyDeleteI thought so...
they have just left after this mornings session at the spa...
Happy days
Hi Lori E
ReplyDeletewell these do are adamant that their spa not be shared by the rest of the gang and very loudly berate any other potential clients....
I plan to keep them on that side og the deck...and come summer they will have to stop using the pool...I haven't quite worked out how we will achieve that yet...
perhaps another dog...
Happy days
Willow - hi there...

Good morning Lynne
ReplyDeleteactually it's now 1.30pm, I had a number of chores to undertake this am and am responding very late for me...
I'm a bit of a silly goose so it fits well with the ducks - birds of a feather and all that...bird brained too maybe...
thanks for coming by
Happy days
Hi ancient friend
ReplyDeleteno, they aren't scary and I can't tell you about the film characters because the DVD wouldn't play
