In Time...
Paul Barwick
Only a man harrowing clods
In a slow silent walk
With an old horse that stumbles and nods
Half asleep as they stalk
Only a man harrowing clods
In a slow silent walk
With an old horse that stumbles and nods
Half asleep as they stalk
Alexander Mann
Only a thin smoke without flame
From the heaps of couch grass
Yet this will go onward the same
Though dynasties pass
Only a thin smoke without flame
From the heaps of couch grass
Yet this will go onward the same
Though dynasties pass
Yonder a maid and her wight
Come whispering by
Wars annals will cloud into night
Ere their story die

In Time of the Breaking of Nations

What a lovely post Delwyn. Just my kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteHi Martin
ReplyDeleteI added this poem to my collection of poetry when I was in my early twenties...many many moons ago, although it was only yesterday...and I still love it...
happy days

ReplyDeleteHi Steven,
ReplyDeleteanother new day for you...early bird that you are...
I am contemplating taking myself off to bed...with my Lisa See Book about little Peony.
Are you enjoying the mid semester break? Our schools have a two week break for Easter.
Happy days
I love the serene photos and gentle words this Sunday morning, Delwyn. I also loved the book... Peony in Love, Lisa See is a favorite author.
ReplyDeleteThomas Hardy! Great pictures too!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Wanda
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked a touch of Thomas Hardy...and his truths...
I am enjoying Peony in Love. On my holiday I read the Shanghai Sisters and was very disappointed. While the background was interesting the story lacked her usual detail and failed to draw me in.
Happy days Wanda
Good morning Rosaria,
ReplyDeleteI read a lot of Thomas Hardy when I was young and could cope with the bleakness of his writing...this poem is different...
Happy days
This is like a home for me,wow, thank you for the beautiful visuals as for the wonderful Thomas Hardy, love it!
ReplyDeleteAleksandra
Love Thomas Hardy and the pictures are beautiful--where did you find them?
ReplyDeleteI also like the new pictures and poems on your side bar.
Have a good week!
Best
Tracy :)
Hi Aleks
ReplyDeleteI left you a message on your other blog...I seem to have become confused with the two of them...Its nice to see you Alex
Happy days
Hi tracy
ReplyDeleteI googled the pictures to match the top two verses and had the third in a collection.
Thanks for noticing the changes. I have added a couple of new images but all the poems were there...It just appears different with the new crisp format. The side bar seems bigger than before, and also on the right now. Its funny how we see things differently when repositioned.
Happy days
Dear Delwyn I left an answer to your comment,I do have 3 blogs these days,at the side of blogs you can find links to them.Thank you for your time.
