Walking on Sunday
at Sunset...
Late Sunday
Beloved and I
took to the coastal path
around the bays
towards Dolphin Point
We didn't catch sight
of a migrating whale
but on our return
the sun began to slip
and line the horizon
with a stroke of pink
small clouds
mimicked birds in flight
and the ocean glowed
we stood
to watch
the final moments
and enjoy
that window
of shared beauty
in love with nature
and others
felt the same
and after
the sun
had disappeared
that glorious sense
of calm
and peace
falls all over
our world
*
You convey the peace in nature so well. I would have loved to have been there too.
ReplyDeleteDelwyn,
ReplyDeleteA wonderful thing to see. It proves the point that those things of true value and beauty are often already with us. We just need to open our eyes a little more often.
Hello Scintilla
ReplyDeleteYou must feel a little homesick looking at these gum tree and Pandanus sunsets...on the Pacific Ocean...
well you can at least share mine...
Happy days
Hello Martin
ReplyDeleteFortunately in this part of Au I am often delivered these wonderful scenes on a platter... But I do take the time to go and enjoy them...and give thanks too...
Happy days
Thanks for sharing. We can never have too many sunsets.
ReplyDeleteHello Rosaria
ReplyDeletesunsets seem to be one of those romantic- in an impersonal way, moving experiences that we never tire of...
I'm glad you were in the park with me...
Happy days
That sense of calm and peace has fallen over my world too, after virtually taking that journey with you.
ReplyDeleteDid you sense a crowd peeking over your shoulder?
Good morning/night Delwyn,
ReplyDeleteThose clouds do look as if they are in flight across the sky...a few photos of the sunset reminded me of a bed of hot lava flowing down from above...appearing so intense in color and heat.
I found the 4th photo back...the one with the waves...so serene and peaceful...but all are beautiful!
I live so very far inland...it takes days to visit the sea!
Smiles always,
Wanda
Delwyn: I have to join your other commentors to say what a sense of calm your words and photos convey.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely composition, in every way. The pacing of your words adds to the peace too.
If we flow with nature, noticing the gifts it gives at different times of day - it truly sets the mood. Amazing that we can sometimes allow our thoughts to set the tone instead.
Hi Barry
ReplyDeleteI can feel you presence right now Barry...as I smile at your words...
Happy days
Hi Wanda
ReplyDeleteWhen I was checking through the post just before, I stopped at the photo you mentioned and breathed and listened to the ocean rolling over the rocks on the shore...
I hadn't thought about how far you must be from the sea...I can hear it in bed some nights when the wind carries the sound of the waves crashing...
I have been on the look out for migrating whales. With the ankle I missed them all going up the coast. I hope to catch their return...
I recently saw some aerial shots of the volcano on Mauai with its lava creeping out to the ocean...
Happy days Wanda
Hi there Beautiful Bonnie...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that the post had that effect...I enjoyed re-reading it too for its calming mood...
Happy days
yes delwyn this is a post that can be revisited time and time again for peacefulness!! i especially like the photographs in which the little clouds scatter outwards from the setting sun like a flourish! a truly lovely setting you lucky lady!!!!! have a peaceful evening delwyn, steven
ReplyDeleteHi Steven
ReplyDeleteyou've given me an idea..I need to print this series out and keep it handy in a little flip album so that I can capture the feelings over and over...

Beautiful series, it was like being there. We have a great view of the sunset out at the country house and Wharton gets some really good ones.
ReplyDeleteWhat a peaceful walk. I haven't seen the sun set over the water like that in at least 10 years. Your photos capture the glory and then the calm.
ReplyDeletePerfection, Delwyn, simply breathtaking and fills me with a sense of great peace... thank you.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful photos, Delwyn. Just looking at them made me feel as if I were there. Thanks for sharing a wonderful sunset. Elcmae.
ReplyDeleteThat' it. I saving my pennies for a QLD holiday with the family next year. It's so easy to see why so many Melbourians migrate up this way.
ReplyDeleteLovely post!
ReplyDeleteOne of life's most simple and joyful pleasures. A true gift.
ReplyDeleteDelwyn, that was so lovely, watching the sun go down, you brought all the photo's together so well and let us know that the best things in life are free.
