Beautiful! I especially like "on a bed of cloud, I lay my wondering down." This is a wonderful image/concept, the kind that takes you to the place it's telling you about it.
So lovely and thoughtful. I love the feeling of flying through or over clouds, makes me feel dreamy, hopeful. I'm glad to know your home safe and sound. I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip. xo lori
the photos, I see on looking again do have that dark mood, but from way up there it was very peaceful and mellow...at sunrise over the Pacific nearing Australia...
It is hard to comprehend that you can be hurtling through the sky on top of the clouds...for me it pays not to think too much of the mechanics and enjoy the views and the floating sensation...
delwyn thankyou for these breathtaking photos. the words are transporting!!! i have often wished i could be up there and spend time just looking around. a glider perhaps, a balloon, or a huge comfortable dirigible. just floating aimlessly around. have a sweet day. steven
Delwyn, you are a miracle worker, with words and camera. I love your new blog too; this was the format I tried for myself, but I tend to be too wordy; the format didn't work half as well for my blog as it does for yours.
I think that one of the most wonderful things to experience in life is to see a new day dawn from this altitude, or a day slide away below the cloud. The horizon is so immense and the cloud like nothing else we encounter...
me too... I would like to try a hot air balloon but must admit I might be a little scared...they float over the Canterbury plains from Christchurch, that would be amazing, ocean to one side and high mountains to the other...NZ is so skinny...flying over the Southern Alps is a great visual experience, but I have experienced the plane bucking like a wild bull as it meets the air rising off the plains...
That is interesting that the template wasn't suitable for you. I guess we each have a special style and we find a template that reflects that style. I do love the whole page look of some other bloggers but I wonder if the pics take longer to load up...
and also I think you might need to have a professional template maker install it. with this template you can alter the widths of the columns and have the side bar narrower or wider. I find now that images on my side bar load up bigger than I want while all the old imported ones have remained their original size. One day I'll have another play but for now I am happy.
Thank you Paul, I liked the way you phrased your comment.
I had been mulling over the concept of home and when I came to write the commentary it wrote itself. I began thinking it was a haiku but the words had a mind of their own and would not bend to those constraints.
Fabulous photos, Delwyn. The view from seven miles up is so nice sometimes. A real high, as we said way back when in San Francisco.
ReplyDeleteA neighbor has a bumper sticker on her car that your poem reminded me of. It says,
"If you lived in your heart, you'd be home now."
These beautiful photos have a quiet melancholy feel to them, almost a peaceful sadness, Delwyn.
ReplyDelete♥...Wanda
And so ... you will never be lost.
ReplyDeleteGood to have you and your dear heart back in this virtual sphere Delwyn.

ReplyDeleteSpectacular cloud photos, Delwyn - somewhat ominous, but also holding that gift of light at the fringe.

Delwyn - That second shot looks like the surface of some exotic planet.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you back, safe and sound.
You capture the lighting and mood very well in your photos and verse. Hours in the air, and endearment in the heart.

Hi Martin
ReplyDeletethe clouds do look rather lumpy and a little ominous as Barb suggests, having that dark eerie mood...
