Notes from my Children...
I have some priceless treasures
in my possession
More valuable than diamonds
more precious than works of art
They are the Love Letters
written just for me,
the notes from my children...
I will translate:
Dear Mum
I love you
and I give you
a big kiss
One day
my Mum was so nice to me
I said thank you
to my Mum
my Mum was so nice to me
I said thank you
to my Mum
What wonderful treasures. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSunny :)
Hi Delwyn
ReplyDeleteThese things are priceless aren't they? The mementos, the quotes, the unconditional love of a child.
Lovely post.
Aw, little treasures. When I tidy up my linen press, I might find mine!
ReplyDeleteDelwyn...such nice little notes of love and sweet apology...the best kind of treasures to have and keep.
ReplyDeleteThe universal cute mispellings by children could make a fun book!
Smiles,
Wanda
I ran across some notes from my kids yesterday, and like you, I agree they are treasures. Thanks for sharing these. Adorable kids.
ReplyDeleteRosey
hello delwyn, the treasures left in the wake of our children are indeed more priceless than anything elese i know of. i especially love the "sorry for being naughty" letter. ahhh the story behind that . . . long forgotten but think of the whole of that experience, still resonating after all these years!!!! have a lovely evening by the river. steven

Hello Rosey Pollen
ReplyDeleteWelcome to my corner of the world...it is a pleasure to have you join in...
with a name like that you will feel very much at home here...
fancy you looking at notes yesterday...
Happy days
Hi Steven
ReplyDeleteyou say some profoundly interesting things Steven...
You made me think about that 'sorry' note being written well over 20 years ago and of the number of times I have re-read it and felt full of warmth and love...it is alive and yet I don't now know the incident that sparked it but I still feel the love for the little child who is now a big strapping married man of 29...
and I also feel his remorse and willingness to ask forgiveness...
ahhh, how lovely it has been and is to be a parent...
and thank you Steven, my friend, for your thoughtful remarks...that took me off on another journey of remembrance...
Happy days
Priceless. Love letters from your darlings! I have some that I gave to my mother as a little girl and that she saved over all these years - and they are so precious too.
ReplyDeleteI have a special box of them too. You make me think it would be a good idea to photograph them - as a little extra insurance against loss or damage. Thanks Delwyn.
Hi Bonnie
ReplyDeleteI collected them all and copied them and made a book out of them called 'Just for You' after that delightful series of kids' books my children had 25-30 years ago, by Mercer Mayer...
so yes, a good idea to back them up...
Happy days
Delightful - thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember ever writing notes like that to my mother. Considering all the useless stuff she did keep, I wish she had saved our birthday cards to her, that would have been nice to look back on!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet!
ReplyDeleteI've saved the notes and pictures from my two, as well, but I haven't looked at them for quite some time. Thanks for reminding me of these precious treasures!
Hugs,
Angela
Dear Delwyn, this post did make me smile! there is nothing more precious than the words & pictures left by our wee ones. i have made scrap books for each of my 3 with all their notes & scribbles & cuttings. one day they will be theirs x have a fab weekend. ps thank you so for your lovely words of support on my blog, they mean a great deal x x
ReplyDeleteI am with you 100%. These are stolen moments from their childhood that grow wings and float about the skies of our lives. Sometimes we lose sight of them, but then just like migratory birds, they come back in the warmest moments of our existence. Many thanks for these little snippets.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
Absolutely precious treasures Delwyn! You've brought back many memories.
ReplyDeleteTreasures of the heart. Aren't you happy you saved them?
ReplyDeleteYes Delwyn I do...from children and g/children and some of my own to my mother...stored in old picnic baskets and chests...in an emergency, I wouldn't know what to grab first...
ReplyDeleteOh! Sweet reminders. You're sending me on a mission today, to retrieve and enjoy again these moments.
ReplyDeleteThe love of a child for it's parent is the most priceless thing in the world.
ReplyDeleteSoo lovely!
ReplyDeleteMonicax.
These are a treasure! And I loved your idea for a blessings book for my dad's party. Thank you for suggesting it, I think its exactly the right sort of thing to capture all of the party.
ReplyDeleteThe note from the noty child could so come from my own firstborn. Such treasures really.
Delwyn, how charming! That certainly takes me back a few years!

Hi Angela
ReplyDeleteDig out those notes and treasures and savour them...
Happy days
Hi Violet
ReplyDeleteI have kept many birthday cards too until I realised I would have to be more selective or I would end up living in one of those tunnel houses where the hoarders pile up collections in every room...
Now I like things simple, clear and uncluttered...except for my study...and its cupboards of hidden treasures....
Happy days
Hi GW

Loved these notes to you, Delwyn. I saved my children's' notes and cards, too - now that they have children of their own, I've given the mementos back so they can remember they were once little, too.
ReplyDeleteDelwyn, now I know the notes I am receiving today are worth keeping for tomorrow. These are so precious to see here at your blog.
ReplyDeleteWhen my love notes from my children have done their time on the fridge they will be pack away to be dug out in years to come.
Indeed, those are great treasures!
