Come for a Walk with me

*

Come for a walk with me
I need to be out amongst the trees
and the green...

Let's follow the Avon River

as it meanders
through the Botanical gardens
in Christchurch

I need to breathe the fresh Autumn air
and see signs of life

this waiting

this waiting for death
is new to me

I am a stranger to its ways

unfamiliar with its dance

the erratic path it takes

My Father
is very strong willed

but so is Death

they are engaged in a duel
where there is no doubt
as to who the victor will be

Autumn is slipping away

the slow Avon keeps on flowing
to the source

and nature fills me anew
with her
 golden energy

  4. I have waited, as you are waiting now. It is often an erratic process, where the timing of the end is impossible to predict. My thoughts are with you and yours.

  6. I have walked amongst those trees alongside that river in ChCh. It is very beautiful as is most of NZ.

I have also waited like you are now.
As Lori has said being in nature does help ease the pain.

Love to you during this unique time.
    Be kind to yourself.

  9. How poignantly expressed Delwyn. Nature is an enormous comfort and source of strength in such times.

    Thinking of you.

  10. Delwyn, I was quickly touched with joy by the beauty of Avon River, then just as quickly a sadness closed in. I know the feeling of waiting.

I hope your father's passing is as beautiful and peaceful as Autumn is along the Avon River.

  11. Lovely photos of a beautiful river...but I felt your sadness before your heavy heart opened...I've been there and it's a difficult place...can only hope, like the comment above, your father's passing is as beautiful and peaceful as Autumn is along the Avon River. Stay strong.

  12. "Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay."

  20. Your photos show a beautiful place to let your spirit soar.
I have been through such difficult times (with my own father) and I hope he finds a way to let his own spirit soar, peacefully.

  21. Beautiful photography & rich language. My father also was strong willed & fought off death for a long time, even after he was almost completely incapacitated by Parkinson's disease. It is a difficult struggle to witness. Best wishes to you & your family.
