The Song Remains

*

The Song Remains...

Perching on a blooming branch of rose
The bird sang a melodious song

Spreading the cry of joy
Across the void of silence

The rose vanished,
Without leaving a trace
Of its colour,
Of its smell;

But when the bird vanished,
Its song remained.

The Song Remains

  6. How true! I have noticed something else that remains when I visit you (or you visit my blog) - your sweet invocation of 'happy days' always remains long after you depart. Anyway, that's what came to mind after I read this lovely poem.

  8. Gorgeous images, to go with the beautiful poem..

Just been reading about your crazy one day trip to Sydney, (sounds like things we do here) and loving those Kookaburras photos..

The memories of the old Elna sewing machine are also beautiful!!

  11. Lovely post, Delwyn!
The last photo of the seascape is so beautiful. And so are the roses! I didn't know the poem by Mahmud Kianush. I'm wondering what the song that remained symbolizes...

  12. So beautifully expressed, both the poem and the images you've chosen to illustrate it.

Interesting, isn't it, that a song's shape can form a stronger and more enduring impression on our minds than an image? It's counter-intuitive to me because music itself is so ephemeral. Images seem to be more durable than song, yet often they aren't.

  16. How meaningful that the song remains after the physical beauty has departed. Somewhat cliched association: Keep a song in your heart....

  20. I love how you illustrate poetry with the most beautiful images. That last shot is especially stunning and the flowers are gorgeous.

I reviewed 2 books by Laura Resau on my blog today that made me think of you. One character quotes Rumi. They are published as young adult novels, but I think adults would enjoy them too.
