Kookaburra

*

I was walking over the hill
this afternoon
and noticed this sign
at a block of holiday apartments

and sure enough
right out the front
I saw this...
I am pretty sure
I know who it is...
Do You?

Another friendly kookaburra

who laughs

just like this...

Happy Days
everyone

  1. I remember being so excited to see a bunch of these guys at some place I stayed at in FNQ - until they all started up a symphony and I couldn't sleep for the racket! man, were they loud!

  3. Oh Delwyn, your friendly kookaburra made me laugh, I may have heard that sound in movies and thought it to be from a funny furry monkey, not a beautiful feathered little bird!

  9. Really glad you included the video sound. I've never heard one before and must confess it sounds a little like a monkey to me. Such fascinating birds I have to say.

  10. Oh Delwyn, I had to turn the bird off before the finish - can't imagine him "laughing" in the morning outside my window! Is he sitting on an old gum tree?

  13. Beautiful photo of my favourite bird. When I lived in North Queensland they always alerted me if there was a snake around. You are blessed to live in Noosa, there is so much wildlife returning to the area. I surfed as a teenager at Noosa when the only food available was pies from the pub - a bit different these days, huh? We slept in cars around by Little Cove, there was no accommodation! I still stay at Noosa about once a year but these days do so in a lot more comfort!

  14. Hi Pauline
    how nice to meet you...
and I live at Little Cove right now...no sleeping in cars allowed around her any more. The park rangers check the vans at the National Park entry each morning....
Your photos of New Zealand make me feel very nostalgic. I'm a Christchurch girl and my Beloved is from the Wairarapa It was not until the last ten years or so that we appreciated the natural beauty of New Zealand. Growing up there it always seemed such a backward and parochial place and we took the splendid diversity of geography and scenery for granted.
    Thanks for calling by...
    Happy days

  23. Awww, Delwyn, the Kookaburra is a cutie! I like his fluffy little head. :)
Although, I do doubt the residents of Kookaburra Lodge get much rest if he's giggling like that all the time...LOL
Thanks for Sharing and You have a Happy Day too!
    Hugs :)
