Very Early on Sunshine Beach

Let's take the steps
down to Sunshine Beach

before the day has really begun
before breakfast
before the beach lovers arrive
before the heat builds
before the usual routine begins
while we are new and fresh
the day is young
and life begins again
Let's stroll in the relative cool
of 24C at 5.30am

a dawn Icarus
rises high

across the path of sunbeams

a loyal pup

awaits his swimming owners

the clouds cluster and swell
as they experiment with shape
using the blue of blue as their canvas
and the wet sand
as their mirror

and the sea rolls glass green
Oh happy day...

  3. Last night, I watched "The Tree" with Charlotte Gainsbourg... set in Queensland, Australia, on the outskirts of Brisbane, with scenes of the area and vast ocean, I thought of you, Amanda and Sunshine Beach!

  4. So calming to walk with you, Delwyn. How I would love to visit that bottle green water in person - but your photos are the next best thing.

  6. ♪“Let’s take the steps down to Sunshine Beach....... oh, happy day” ♪♪ Hi, Delwyn, your words sound like a song this time. 24 degrees C in the early morning suggests very hot daytime, doesn’t it? Love the collaboration of the skies and the sea merging into one at the horizon. The flying Icarus must be enjoying the freedom soaring into the air. Thank you for this morning poem, Delwyn.

  7. Delwyn,
What a magnificent place Sunshine Beach is! Clouds look like angles’ wings or long scarves of Bodhisattvas. Every nice thing is flying towards and gathering here! I especially love the last photo.
    Best wishes,

  10. The green of the sea water is emerald-like. I love the way the light can be seen through the waves. Sunshine Beach is indeed pristine. Did you say 5:30??? What time does it get light there? It appears the sun has been up and shining brightly for some time.
