Another Tapper...

*

When I came home from the physio's
I noticed the duck couple,
Maude and Harold,
on the deck
looking very cute and settled
so I rushed to get my camera,
as fast as you can rush in a moonboot,
and headed for the door...

and who do you think was there...

Cousin of Bluey
You may remember a post of mine
about Grandson of Bluey,
this cousin is another Blue Tongue lizard
with beautiful orange markings

He looked as if he too
would like to come inside

I had him cornered
and he didn't like it,
flattening out to appear bigger

and making a little psssttting noise
before he poked out his tongue at me

giving me the evil eye

from both watchful eyes

he tried another glass panel

nosed into the corner

then confronted me

moving down the verandah
checking for an exit

showing me his
beautiful scaly little legs
and toes

and menacing stare
I had the camera too close
for his liking here
he made a tentative strike
toward the lens

Later when my son came by
I dragged him into my study
to show him the photos
of cousin of Bluey,
as the whole family are fond of Bluey
his descendants and extended family,
and while he glanced at the images
I looked out onto the atrium deck
from my chair to exclaim,

look there he is
sunning himself right now...

The Visitors Return

The Visitors have returned...

When I came in from my afternoon walk
I found that the recent visitors
had once again
taken up their positions
doing the tree pose
on my deck....

I took their photo
through the glass
so as not to disturb
their composure
and equanimity

and then went outdoors.
I saw the Brahminy kite
and I want to snap him too,
and at my intrusion
and the visitors made to leave...

I sat on the edge of the deck
photographing the Brahminy kite,
unsuccessfully,
and along came a pelican...

Hello Mr Pelican, I called
and he came right up to the water's edge
below where I was sitting...
I was thinking that I may be
developing the Attenborough touch...

when he elongated his immense bill,
and as I looked down
he snapped up a dead fish
from the sand

clenched it in his bill

and turned to swim away
from the shore...

from where he dropped the fish
down into his pouch

and with a toss of his head
he swallowed it...

the ducks on the deck above,
meanwhile,
were oblivious to the whole show
and went back to sleep...

resuming their favourite yoga pose

after a few minutes
the pelican returned
to look for dessert...

and look
can you see
that the fish
is still lodged at the bottom
of his long neck...

Visitors

*

Today we received two visitors
from across the river

With no dog to sound the alarm
the guests arrived unannounced

and proceeded to the pool

Had a little swim about...

made amusing shadows...

did a little preening...

and rested for awhile...

creating stone replica images

and then it was time to return
across the river
to the swampy little creek
called home

look right,
look left,
look right again...
before we cross the river...

OK, come along now Maude
we can come back again another day...
I promise...

Post Script:

I have been advised by some blogging friends that they have been unable to open my blog, posts, comments intermittently over the last week or two.

I believe that blogger has an issue with those people using Internet Explorer as their browser. It appears that Firefox and Chrome are OK.

The people in the know suggest removing the site meter and the Followers box.

I am reluctant to remove the Followers just yet, hoping that Blogger may remedy the issue.

If this has been happening to you please be patient and try again...you can gain access...but not always...

If you have repeated difficulty please email me and I will decide whether to remove these gadgets because I do love your visits...
