A New Day

It's a new day, in a new month in a nearly new year.

February is my favourite month of the year.

Why? - well it used to mean the start of the school year and the end to the long school holidays with four energetic kids to keep an eye on, - and therefore some time to myself. And even tho' my kids are now grown that emotion of relief still lingers;

it means great warm weather in Noosa, the days are still long and we can paddle before dusk and watch the sun slip below Mt Cooroy on our homeward run;

it means the town is back to normal after the influx of tens of thousands of holiday makers over summer. Thank you for coming but goodbye for now...;

it has traditionally been a time for new starts - classes begin, courses start, new study commenced, projects are undertaken, those new year's resolutions are put into practice.

It is a time for new beginnings, it is a time of promise...

It's a new day in the mornin'
Anything is possible, it's all good.
For a brief shinin moment,
Everything is wonderful,
Knock on wood
knock on wood.

Patriotism

With Australia Day on Monday the flags are flying, and people are settling into a long weekend: watching 'The Australian Open' on TV , fishing, surfing and having fun.
I am getting into the mood by using a verse from Rolf Harris' very popular 'Tie me kangaroo down sport' which was written in 1957. Although acceptable then, we shouldn't sing one of the original verses as it is no longer p.c.

Snakes and Ladders

Today's posting is one of the first postcards I made. As kids we spent many hours of wintery sundays and school holidays in New Zealand playing snakes and ladders, ludo and pick- up- sticks. I am, of course, the cheekiest child.

A Sunburnt Country

I love this adopted country of mine, its diversity and extremes but particularly this little patch of sub-tropical coastline.
