Love is in the air

*

Love is in the air...

I dragged my Beloved
out of bed
early one morning this week
on the pretext of finding whales

the sun was battling
with the clouds
for supremacy
in the 6am sky

but the mood was mellow
there were very few people about
and
the day was warm
it was great to be up
and looking over
the mighty Pacific
which is called the Tasman Sea
between Australia
and New Zealand

it was a whale free morning
but love was in the air

on the sand
and in the skies

the next day
was also whale free

but a little boat
bobbed on the swell

the ocean frothed
and foamed
onto the rocks

and a small magpie lark
called a Peewee
watched the sea

and then watched me
He is a male peewee
the female has a white face

and he lives in a mud and grass nest
on a horizontal branch
near or over the water

Love is in the air
on the sand
and in the skies...

  1. Delwin, something magical happens here every day. You have the good fortune to have spectacular vistas to photograph; you have acute skills of observation; and, you lovingly offer these for us to enjoy, way across the same ocean. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

In this kind of atmosphere, what other emotion could possibly dominate?

A beautiful sense of calm and holding hands with the surroundings.

  8. I enjoyed the changes in your ocean views Delwyn. The heavy cloud covering created a mellow dreamy look for your photos, one that was appropriate for viewing the love rocks, a perfect postcard look! Someone was very artistic and energetic!

  9. Hi Wanda

when you see the photos juxtaposed like that you notice the contrast, how the skies and sea colour can change so dramatically...over 24 hours.
That same someone created a different message the next day...but I'll save that for another post...

    Happy days

  10. I never get tired of seeing pictures of your coastline - beautiful!

  11. Hi Delwyn: I really like those first three shots - they are dreamy and mystical. I would frame them and hang them somewhere, they appeal so to my eye.

You had me going there Delwyn - husband, ocean, alone at the beach, telling us love was in the air, I was expecting some out-of-character departure from you . . . some brazen shot of you and your DH in full embrace with the surf pounding in the background . . .
    ahhhh . . . the stories I construct in my head . . .

Have a good rest - I'm sure there will be more whale spotting on the agenda tomorrow. Hope you find your heart's desire there in the Tasman Sea.

  12. Yes, love is everywhere, if you open your heart and mind. You just happen to live in one of the most beautiful place on earth, so it is easier to see it with the naked eye.

    Happy days to you!

    Hugs,
    Angela

  13. I love seeing the ocean through your eyes. As a child and young adult, I visited it regularly but now I live far away from any coast. I dreamed last night of a walk on the beach, and then I saw your photos this morning. Just beautiful...

  14. This post just sings of spring to me. It's strangely wonderful to be so thoroughly enjoying autumn here while you are having the spring experience. And I like the fact that you have a clock on your page; I enjoy thinking about the difference in our days.

I'm glad to have met you, Delwyn, and as always, thank you for sharing your lovely world.

  15. Don't you just wonder who set up those LOVE rocks and what their story is?
You are so blessed... what a stunning view and a sweet love to share it with.

  18. Hi Delwyn.

Love is in the air there and everywhere. But out there maybe more, since spring has arrived, while here we have autumn. Not that I don’t like autumn. I do. And I like cold weather, which allows mortals to eat and drink more and better and to tell tales in front of a fireplace.

Really beautiful pictures and words from a woman's soul.

  19. An open invitation to walk along for a perfectly intimate moment, that is both private and yet meant to be shared at the same time :) Simply beautiful. As amazing as the photos are, its your words that helped completely carry me away!

  20. I so love to see the pictures of the ocean, sand and your wonderful inhabitants. That Peewee is a new one for me, but then most of your flora, fauna, and birds are. You bet...love is in the air!

  26. Hi Polly

Our spring is really only spring by name...the temperatures quickly jump up and are now around 25* and 31* expected later in the week...the nights are still a little cooler so it is a beautiful time of year. Walking in summer means a very early start...before the heat of the day arrives...

  29. Hi Delwyn~ Love at sunrise! the sky and water couldn't have turned bluer and crystal clear after the 6am beginnings. Even the peewee is cobalt blue! But who could ordain that message on the beach on your morning walk? Beautiful today.

  35. Wow, your climate sounds a lot like Louisiana. "Winter" there is rarely cold, and spring starts in February, summer in about May, and by June, you hardly want to go outside after 9 in the morning.

After I moved to New Mexico, it took me a couple of years to get used to the fact that spring here doesn't really start until late April.

What a wonderful, varied world we live in!

  36. Love may be in the air, but great photos are on your blog!
